Fast Facts
The EntrePass is designed for foreign entrepreneurs, founders, and innovators who want to build a scalable, high-growth business in Singapore. Unlike the standard Employment Pass (EP), which focuses on a candidate's salary and qualifications, the EntrePass evaluates the business itself — its innovation, market potential, and contribution to the local economy.
Eligibility at a Glance
To qualify for the EntrePass, your business must meet these three conditions:
These are the foundational requirements. The specific criteria within each track are more detailed. For a complete list of qualifying criteria — including what constitutes "recognized funding," "proprietary IP," and "local economic contribution" — read our article on Singapore EntrePass requirements.
EntrePass vs Employment Pass
Many founders are unsure whether to apply for an EntrePass or an Employment Pass for their own company. The choice depends on your business model and personal profile. Here is a high-level comparison:
| Feature | EntrePass | Employment Pass |
|---|---|---|
| Target Audience | Founders, entrepreneurs, innovators | Professionals, managers, executives |
| Minimum Salary | None (business-based) | S$5,600 (general) / S$6,200 (finance) |
| COMPASS Framework | Exempt | Must pass 40-point COMPASS grid |
| Company Age | < 6 months | No restriction |
| Evaluation Focus | Business plan, funding, IP, local impact | Candidate's salary, qualifications, COMPASS score |
Renewal & Family Eligibility
Renewal is Performance-Based
An initial EntrePass is valid for 1 year. Renewal is not automatic — it depends on your business's progress. For a 3-year renewal, your business must typically meet at least two of these conditions:
- S$100,000 in annual business spending (local)
- 3 local employees with a total monthly payroll of at least S$9,000
- S$100,000 in investments or funding secured
Maintaining your post-incorporation compliance is also critical, as ACRA penalties or striking-off actions will immediately jeopardize your EntrePass renewal.
Can You Bring Your Family?
Yes, but with conditions. Unlike the Employment Pass (which allows Dependant's Pass applications immediately upon meeting the S$6,000 salary threshold), EntrePass holders can only sponsor a Dependant's Pass (DP) for their spouse and unmarried children under 21 if the business meets specific criteria:
- The business has attracted at least S$100,000 in investments; OR
- The business has spent at least S$100,000 in local business spending; OR
- The business holds a relevant, registrable intellectual property (IP).
